Voltron Live Action Movie

Do you remember Voltron? It was a popular animated from the 1980s originally Voltron Defender of the Universe. The story was revolving around five space explorers who pilot robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, an invincible guardian sworn to defend the Universe.

Well there's a live action Voltron movie ahead of us! The success of the Transformers movie series has indeed spurred interest in doing a movie adaptation of Voltron. And don't believe the recent rumors about the Voltron movie getting scrapped: the project is still on and a screenwriter should be announced soon! Voltron Producers Ted Koplar and Richard Suckle confirmed indeed that they definitely intend to bring Voltron to the big screen:

we've been working over the last several months meeting with various screenwriters, and we're actually on the cusp of securing an A-level screenwriter who's going to write the Voltron movie. That's all part of the plan here: reintroducing the brand to the fans who've watched over the last 25 years and to a new generation. We are very close to securing a screenwriter who's going to actually write the feature version — so that's always been part of the plan.

Voltron is one of the great iconic brands from the '80s, and a lot of people don't know this but in its heyday it outperformed The Transformers. ... We've had a lot of interest over the last couple of years in bringing back this franchise, and the movie has always been and still is the locomotive that's driving our thinking. All this serves as a staging platform for the motion picture.

I am really glad to hear that they're working on a Voltron movie. It was a great animated series, and it totally deserves its own live action movie adaptation.

Producers Ted Koplar and Richard Suckle said that 2013 would be a fair timeline for the release of the movie Voltron. Well I hope they'll manage to produce the film earlier... because I quite impatient to watch the live-action Voltron movie!
